Another year, more challenges

Hello and a somewhat belated welcome to 2013!

Entries have opened for this year's event which sees one major change.
Historically, those who were under 21 on race day were not permitted to go beyond Peel in this race.
This has been the rule for many years however the real reason as to why this was the case was lost in the mists of time.
After doing some investigation and consulting the Rules governing athletics, it was discovered that whilst there are limitations on the distances those who are under 20 years old can compete over, there are no such limitations for under 21 year olds.
The Rules state that those under 20 years old on the day of the race may not go further than 50k (approximately 31 miles).
The committee have therefore taken the decision that those who are 20 years old and over on the day of the race can attempt the full 39.22 miles course.
Those under 20 years old can go as far as Peel (22 miles).

Hopefully, this decision will attract a new 'youngest' finisher for 2013.
